Putting God's love into action to build homes, communities, and hope

within Pine, Isanti, Chisago, Kanabec and Mille Lacs Counties

Where It Began

Koinonia Farm

Millard and Linda Fuller first encountered the "partnership housing" model at Koinonia Farm, a Christian community in Georgia, founded by Clarence Jordan. This model involved people in need of housing working alongside volunteer to build simple, decent, affordable homes.

After the Fullers developed the concept of partnership housing at Koinonia Farm, they moved to Zaire in 1973 to implement and test the partnership housing concept on a larger scale, which proved successful. After three years in Africa, the Fullers returned to the US in 1976 and gathered supporters to officially form Habitat for Humanity International.

This organization has modeled from the very beginning that everyone is equal in God's sight.

First ECM House Built in the Five County Area in 1995

City of Isanti

From the first ECM Habitat house built in Isanti to the home build in Sandstone in 2025, we look forward to expanding into new counties and accelerating our home-building efforts to meet the growing demand.

Volunteer commitment has been crucial in our history. Residents of the counties rallied to support projects.

Local partnerships: Partnerships with local churches, businesses, and organizations have supported the build projects in Pine, Isanti, Chisago, Kanabec, and Mille Lacs counties.

Affordable housing has a big impact in the region.  The program provides a "hand up, not a hand out".
