Honoring Our Veterans!

Thank You For Your Service!

With Veterans Day around the corner, everyone is going to be saying "thank you for your service." But honestly? A simple thank you doesn't fix safety and accessibility issues in your home.

To be honest, East Central Minnesota Habitat does a lot of critical home repairs and aging-in-place projects, but veterans are profoundly self-reliant, and often are the last ones to let us know they need support. We want to change that. No one who served their country should have to struggle just to live safely in their own home.

Our Veterans Repair Program provides modifications, repairs and painting for low-income veteran homeowners and veteran homeowner veterans living with their families. It focuses on improving safety, accessibility, and independence, allowing veterans to age in place. Services include safe and healthy home assessments, rehabilitation, accessibility modifications (like ramps and grab bars, raised toilet seats, widening doors) and essential system repairs (HVAC, plumbing and electrical),

If you are a veteran or know a local veteran whose home needs some serious work, please let them know about East Central Minnesota Habitat for Humanity. If you just want to support the organization to get these critical repairs done, consider signing up as a volunteer or contributing building materials. We want to serve our veterans!

If you are a veteran and served in the military, call your County Veteran Services Officer (CVSO) for benefits.

To all veterans, we thank you for your service, and sincerely wish you a Happy Veterans Day – November 11.
