Five Counties: One Mission

Welcome to the new digital home of East Central Minnesota Habitat for Humanity!

Whether you've been a long-time volunteer or are just discovering Habitat and our work, we are thrilled to have you here.

Our affiliate has the unique privilege of serving a diverse and beautiful region made up of five distinct counties: Chisago, Isanti, Kanabec, Mille Lacs, and Pine.  From the lake country of Mille Lacs to the bustling communities in Isanti and Chisago, our service area is vast.

Our Executive Director, Susan Morris, has set an ambitious "north star" for our organization: to eventually build at least one new home in each of these five counties every single year. While the geography is broad, our purpose is singular. We are "putting God's love into action to build homes, communities, and hope."

Building a home in every county every year is a bold goal - one that requires land donations, volunteer surges, and steady funding. We may not hit that exact "five-home" mark every year, but we have an unwavering commitment to never leave any part of our community behind.

Through this blog, we invite you to follow along as we:

- Share stories: Meet the families putting in their 200 hours of "sweat equity" to buy their first home.

- Identify gaps: Use service maps to show where the need for affordable housing is greatest.

- Call for help: Whether we need office volunteers in Cambridge or construction crews in Pine City, you'll hear about it first here.
